The Association shall have four standing committees, namely the Election, Finance, Dispute Resolution/Grievance and Negotiating Committees.

The Chairperson of the standing committees shall be determined as follows:

Finance

- as determined by the Constitution

Grievance

- by the SAFA Executive

Negotiations

- by the members of the Negotiations Committee

The members of the Negotiations Committee shall be determined by the Executive following interviews by a committee selected by the Executive. The Negotiations Committee shall consist of three (3) members plus an alternate member, or as otherwise provided in the Collective Agreement.

The Grievance Committee should have at least one (1) member from each Division. The President must be notified by the Chairperson of the Grievance Committee if a grievance is filed.

In addition there are joint SAIT/SAFA committees which require volunteers.

SAFA Dispute Resolution/Grievance Committee

SAFA is encouraging more faculty members to get involved in dispute and conflict resolution. As a result a Dispute Resolution/Grievance Committee has been set up. The objective of the committee is to assist the SAFA President and Executive to provide information and advice and to resolve disputes and conflicts before they become grievances.
